 Довольно трудно писать объективные обзоры на команды, которые в свое время, если верить хвалебным рецензиям, ставили на уши сотни поклонников жанра. Трудно, потому что для самого себя эти команды легендами не считаются, а считаются таковыми те, кто как раньше задавал шороху, так и сейчас гремит за прошлые заслуги. Это все к тому, что в любом музыкальном жанре есть свои Metallica, Exodus, Slayer, Testament, Kreator, Anthrax, Overkill и Megadeth, в то время как Nuclear Assault, Dark Angel и Agent Steel в качестве несомненных героев называют позже, слегка почесав затылок. И уж совсем немногие, только быть может трэшера со стажем, вспоминают Sacrifice, Mekong Delta и Coroner.
Та же история с Artillery (повторюсь, лично для меня). Услышал я их лет через десять после выхода последнего на данный момент альбома. И то, что я услышал, напомнило мне Mercyful Fate (чье влияние на свою музыку Aртиллeристы не отрицают), совсем немного раннюю Metallica (чей фронтмен неистово рубился в студии датчан при записи демо «Deeds of Darkness» 1984), Slayer (c которыми группа играла в Копенгагене в своем первом туре по Скандинавии) и Kreator. С той лишь разницей, что именитые земляки, да и американцы с немцами, помимо скорости звукоизвлечения и ярости выдавали угарные, «хуковые», запоминающиеся риффы и мелодии, под которые самое оно трясти головой и скакать галопом. А вот датчанам это не совсем удается. У них, несомненно, есть жутковатая атмосфера и дикие вопли (надо сказать лишь время от времени и к месту), часто появляющиеся около-думовые, медленные части, только дополняющие и без того мрачнющего саунда, но все же этого мало, когда под боком такие конкуренты. Конечно, это всего лишь дебютник и они еще всем покажут (то есть уже показали, это автор рецензии тормозит безбожно!), однако если все же оставаться объективным, то, несмотря на весь ажиотаж (если верить тем же рецензиям в буклете к переизданному материалу) которые производили их демки и сей пласт, они не составляют здоровую конкуренцию, например, тевтонскому трэшу, правящему в Европе, образца середины восьмидесятых.
Приведу, однако, один любопытный факт из истории Артов. В буклете, излагающем историю коллектива, прилагающемся к коллекционному изданию Artillery – «Through the Years» 2007-го года (включающему в себя комплект из всех четырех студийных дисков группы, плюс по пять редких бонусов на каждый диск за исключением последнего) гитарист Стутцер признает, что при записи второго альбома «Terror Squad» на команду, бесспорно, имели влияние такие классические пластинки, как «Show No Mercy», «Bonded by Blood», и «Kill ‘em All», то есть дебютные диски первых американских трэшеров. Означает ли это, что к моменту созданию «Fear of Tomorrow» Aртиллеристы не имели возможности ознакомиться с чем-либо более-менее трэшевым, и ваяли чисто свое и уникальное? Кто знает... |
