Четвертый и, пожалуй, этапный альбом шведов. На нем группа сменила вокалиста, тематику песен, да и имидж в целом. Теперь это уже не фэнтэзи-пауэр, а просто мелодик-пауэр. Об этом, кстати, свидетельствуют исчезнувшие из логотипа мечи и новый дизайн веб-сайта (старый мне нравился на порядок больше). Хорошо это или плохо? Сложно сказать однозначно. С одной стороны, группа что-то при этом явно потеряла, с другой - что-то, не менее явно, приобрела. В любом случае, группа была и осталась достаточно интересной. Да и альбом вышел, мягко гороря, не слабый. |

Поворотный альбом в карьере Nocturnal Rites. Группа сменила стиль с фэнтезийного паура на тяжелый "низкочастотный" пауэр. А главное - поменялся вокалист. Новый певец Джонни Линдквист, обладающий мощнейшим голосом с хрипотцой, идеально подошел под новый стиль группы. Материал "Afterlife" не идет ни в какое сравнение с предыдущими работами шведов. Это абсолютно зрелая, профессиональная запись, полная забоя и классных мелодий. |

Первый альбом с новым вокалистом и четвёртый вообще. В музыкальном плане шведы изрядно прибавили в тяжести, мрачности и даже немного в злости. Сразу же хочу отметить, что это, по-моему, самый мрачный альбом группы, в основу которого, как видно из названия и великолепной обложки, взята загробная тема. Сама музыка отдалилась от стандартного пауэра, который преобладал на старых альбомах группы, пауэр стал нестандартным, более тяжёлым и мрачным. Что ещё бросается в уши, так это очень, скажем так, оригинальные соляки, и неподготовленному слушателю может показаться, что у музыкантов недостаточно мастерства. Это не так. Повторюсь, эта группа выработала свой специфический стиль звучания, где виртуозные соляки не имеют места, они не вписываются в мрачную картину. Из песен хочу выделить “Afterlife”, “Wake up Dead” и “Sinner’s Cross”, как украшения альбома, и “The Sign”, как песню, немного выпадающую, сами знаете, откуда. Хотя, в целом, альбом весьма ровный и понравится немногим. Ничего сверхъестественного шведы тут не предлагают, однако прыжок, который они сделали вперёд, не может не вызвать восхищения и уважения. |
