Process Of Guilt started their existence as a band throughout the Portraits of Regret recordings in early 2002, having their foundations firmly based in doom/death metal music. In late 2003, the quartet recorded Demising Grace and showed a new level in the development of their music. Incorporating a more organic feel to their own vision, the four musicians gave a stronger and more concise production to their own brand of doom/death. Between 2003 and 2005, the considerable list of live appearances can thus be crowned with performances alongside Morgion and Mourning Beloveth. Besides the intense live activity there was also an effort to create a new set of songs that were in line with the enduring expansion of the band. In late December of 2005, the recordings for the full-length album Renounce finally begun. Mastered at the Cutting Room Studios, in Sweden, by Thomas Eberger (who worked with bands like Katatonia, Opeth and Daylight Dies), the album took the band to all four corners of their native country, impressing fans with their devastating performances and also sharing the stage with acts as diverse as Katatonia, The Ocean, Intronaut, Minsk, A Storm Of Light, Swallow The Sun, Napalm Death or Rotten Sound. Paving the ground for the release of their second full-length, titled Erosion, Process of Guilt recently unleashed three limited releases on the masses:a split 10” with british master of mystery Caïna, a remastered version of Demising Grace on pro-CDr and the tape versions of the debut album and the first two demos.
The second full-length recording by Process of Guilt, is a major step forward for the portuguese band. Progressing even further from the post-doom sound crafted on their much lauded debut Renounce, the four musicians keep spreading their creative wings, breaking down genre boundaries and solidifying their very own personality. The album was captured, produced and mixed at 5ª Dimensão Studios – between August and November 2008 – by João Bacelar and Fernando Mendes with the band. Afterwards the tracks were mastered at the Boiler Room, by Collin Jordan (well-known for his work with such bands as Ministry, Minsk or Buried at Sea).
THECIRCLE
Closing the process started with «Erosion», «The Circle» presents five reinterpretations of the closing song on PROCESSOFGUILT's highly acclaimed sophomore album and opens the door for the composition process of their third full length. Bringing together the creative minds of Sanford Parker (of Minsk, Buried At Sea, Twilight, Circle Of Animals, The High Confessions and overall producer extraordinaire), Echoes Of Yul (the Polish creators of one of the most interesting ambient/industrial debuts in recent years), DJ Mofo (of Portuguese best kept secret Bizarra Locomotiva), Bosque (one of the leading forces of bleak drone/doom/black art) and Sons Of Bronson (featuring members of Spanish sludge masters Lords Of Bukkake), «The Circle» offers a deconstructive circle through an erosive world of calm versus chaos. Besides the five remixes, this abstract descent begins with a new prespective on Erosion's closing track, now (re)mastered – as all the other tracks – by the well known James Plotkin (of OLD, Khanate fame).
