A name representing the female personification of lightning in Greek mythology, FULGORA is a shadowy grindcore/death collective featuring members of Pig Destroyer, Misery Index and Agoraphobic Nosebleed. Together they concoct violent hymns of destruction fusing death/grind and hardcorish, vulturine vocal infiltrations.
This past July, the editors of MetalSucks handpicked five unsigned bands from an open application process to record with producer Will Putney at Converse Rubber Tracks in Brooklyn, New York, Converse’s completely free, state-of-the-art recording studio. FULGORA ranked among the five with the notorious web portal accurately gushing, “although it might be easy to dismiss FULGORA as just another deathgrind band from guys who specialize in deathgrind bands, it is very much its own project with its own distinct personality: if Misery Index is a determined fanatic seething with the righteous rage of political revolution and Pig Destroyer is the lovelorn, desperate stalker of every woman’s nightmares, then FULGORA is a mad scientist who is going to make you the middle section of his human centipede. FULGORA’s music is unforgiving and furious, but it’s also executed with surgical precision.”
Some weeks later the band joined Philip H. Anselmo’s Housecore Records for the release of their Stratagem full-length, a nihilistic sound track to a world collapsing from within. “It’s an honor to be a part of the Housecore family,” comments the band, “It’s the perfect fit for us, as they are very artist-friendly, and music fans first and foremost. We look forward to working with Phil and the entire Housecore crew, and hope to see everyone on the road soon!”
Set for official unveiling this February, the seven-track Stratagem is a collection of limited vinyl singles and samples including the Converse Rubber Tracks recorded “Meridian,” currently dominating the airwaves at MetalSucks, who relays, “…forget a bull in a china shop, this is more like a bull in a china shop trying to dodge flying, electrified circle saws being shot at him from a cannon. While we tend to think of grindcore as genre dominated by a punkish, messy sound, FULGORA’s attack is precise, dominated by right angles and sharp, exposed edges.”
Stratagem Track Listing:
1. Source
2. Splinter
3. Risen
4. Artifice
5. Design

Stratagem will be released via Housecore Records on February 3rd, 2015. Stay tuned for further info including addition streams and live intrusions to be announced in the weeks to come.
