 Популярная нынче американская группа Dope никогда не входила в число моих фаворитов. Второсортный ню-метал, которым пичкала слушателей группа на протяжении трёх-четырёх альбомов, не вызывал особого восторга. Тем больше был я шокирован, ознакомившись с их новым, пятым по счёту, творением под названием «No Regrets». Набрав новых музыкантов, бессменный предводитель группы Эдсел Доуп выдал такой ошеломительный релиз, что, если честно, даже слов не хватает. Набрав в начале альбома ураганный темп и взяв в качестве образца стопроцентную хитовость, парни не ослабили хватку до самого последнего трека. Боевик за боевиком альбом проносится на одном дыхании, вызывая непреодолимое желание вновь прослушать его. Кстати, «No Regrets» не только очень мощный альбом, но также и очень мелодичный. Наряду со скоростными номерами «6-6-Sick», «We Are», «Best for Me» или «Scorn», тут нашли своё место качёвые ритмичные «Addiction» (в которой засветился сам Закк Уайльд из Black Label Society), «No Regrets» и «Violence». Ну а вещь с мрачным названием «My Funeral» смело можно назвать сильнейшей вещью группы и уж точно одной из лучших песен в жанре. Отчаянно-депрессивная, она цепляет за живое своим трогательным, но динамичным припевом, а текст может довести особо чувствительных персон до слёз. Так, дальше. Понравилось то, что Эдсел демонстрирует не только типичный для стилистики группы ор, но также и довольно неплохое пение. Новая ритм-секция (ударник Энджел Бартолотто и басист Деррик Триббетт) не поражает воображение чем-то заоблачным, но за счёт отменной записи их связка звучит очень плотно и чисто, что, конечно же, придаёт альбому необходимый фундамент и драйв. Гитарист Вирус уже давно зарекомендовал себя профессионалом, к нему нет претензий, да и к тому же, он иногда позволяет себе сыграть несложные соло. Мелочь, как говорится, а приятно. Итак, подытожим. Со времён знаковых для ню-метала работ «Believe» Disturbed, «Shadow Zone» Static-X и «Vol.3» Slipknot (которые я считаю лучшими альбомами в данном жанре), впервые появился достойный конкурент этим именитым монстрам. Четыре года подготовки не прошли даром для Dope, и, несомненно, с альбомом «No Regrets» группа ворвалась в высший эшелон ню-метала. На такие альбомы нужно равняться последующим командам, жаждущим славы и признания. Однозначно, лучший ню-метал альбом 2009 года. |
