In the year 2005 Nostarion, nowadays known as Blackheart Nostarion, started Dämmerfarben as a Doom/Black Metal solo project of under the name Schattenwindes Dämmerfarben besides his other bands and his work as a session musician. His first chosen instrument, however, was not the guitar but a classical one - the violoncello, on which he has 16 years classical training since his childhood and which he played in several orchestras. A few years later he also started training on violin, viola, contrabass, lute and guitar, among others. The first demo "Des Herbstes Trauerhymnen" was recorded in 2006 and included the songs "Herbstsonne", "Des Herbstes Trauerlied" and "Schattenwindes Dämmerfarben". After releasing the demo, he decided to change the band name to the more concise Dämmerfarben. In 2008, Dämmerfarben turned from a solo-project into a real band when Fergen Grimnir (Throndt, Idhafels) joined Nostarion as bass player and a few months later the two of them recruited Nachtgarm (Negator, Sanguineus) as vocalist. The line-up was completed as they started the work on their debut album, when Christopher (Kerbenok) joined Dämmerfarben as drummer. When the deadline for the final album recordings drew near and it turned out that Nachtgarm couldn't participate, Nostarion once again filled the part as vocalist.
