EPITIMIA was founded in January 2008 by A. and K. The first their song was created as an experiment with acoustic guitar. It was called “The moment of the final spring”. After that we decided to work on with that depressive metal-like sound.
"Epitimia (from Greek ἐπιτιμία - penance) is to be understood as an interdiction which, according to Church canons, the priest as a spiritual physician may apply in certain cases in order to treat the moral diseases of his spiritual children".
Soon the first demo “You, Whose Name Dies On Quivering Lips” was recorded. The name of this recording is taken from the poem of Russian poet Lev Mei. The music on this demo combines the elements of atmospheric and depressive black metal with romantic influenced lyrics. Soon this demo was released by Mexican label Self Mutilation Services in a limited edition of 150 copies. It was re-released on CD-R on russian label Rigorism Prod.
Epitimia recorded their first full-length "To the non-existing shades..." in the spring 2009. The release date of the CD is the 1 June 2009. The cover art was made by Depraved Designs.
The release appeared on the Beneath the Fog Productions.
The next release was the five way split "Five roads to eternity", where the great songs from Circle of Ghosts, Man o'Moon faces, Fluctus and Nirmal Hriday were pesented. This release appeared on Beneath the Fog Productions.
After that Epitimia invited a new member - Maria Kachalova as drummer. With her great help we done a good work with russian band Gmork. The split "Солнечный ветер/Четыре сезона" appeared in may 2010.
Our second fill length titled "Four Truths of the Noble Ones", was released on 29 of October by Graillight Productions in Russia. That release was on CD. The vinyl version was released by German black metal label Occult Devotion Productions on 16 of November..
