Ecnephias is a blackened death doom metal band from Potenza, Italy. They take their name from greek latin tradition and are notable for their mediterranean and atmospheric metal. The band was formed in 1996 by vocalist and guitarist Mancan, lawyer and musician. They self-released their first demo, "November", in 2005; after this release, they were signed to Nekromantik Records. Their debut release was 2007's "Dominium Noctis". 2008 saw the release of a new Ep, "Haereticus", on the same label, with a new line up featuring Antonio Donadeo (ex Vital Remains, ex Undertakers) on the drums. Ecnephias released their third official album, "Ways of Descention", in May of 2010, for Code666 Records/Audioglobe. 2011 saw, finally, the release of a new, third masterpiece album: "Inferno", on Scarlet Records, with a new line up. In July of 2012 they announced the agreement with Behemoth Prod. / Masterpiece for the production and distribution of the album "Cold winds from beyond", a compilation of tracks from the first three works. In the March of 2013 the band announced the publication of "Necrogod", the awaited 4th album, confirming a steady growth. The lyrics theme is inspired by the ancient pre-Christian cults of the southern hemisphere of the Earth. To promote their music, Ecnephias went on tour in Italy supporting Opera IX, Frostmoon Eclipse, Exodus and others acts, playing at the Total Metal Festival 2009 with Malevolent Creation, Vomitory and Finntroll, at the Agglutination Metal Festival 2009 with Extrema, Vader and Udo and at the Agglutination Metal Festival 2012 with Dark Tranquillity, Rotting Christ, Destroyer 666 and Rhapsody.
