For a time in the mid eighties Mr. Mister were huge, two US number one singles plus a top ten, a number one album and nominated for two Grammys. This was no overnight success, however, but the result of years of hard work and a massive amount of talent. Singer/bassist Richard Page and keyboardist/singer/saxophonist Steve George had been working together since the early seventies, releasing three albums with the critically acclaimed jazz pop fusion band Pages and becoming highly sought after session vocalists, musicians and songwriters. Joined by guitarist Steve Farris and drummer Pat Mastelotto in 1982, they formed Mr. Mister, releasing three albums, “I Wear The Face” (1984), “Welcome to the Real World” (1985) and “Go On…” (1987).
Their fourth album, “Pull”, recorded in 1989/90, was shelved by their record company. It remained unreleased until 2010 when it finally emerged on Richard‘s own independent label, Little Dume. Steve Farris left the band in 1988. Richard, Steve and Pat disbanded in 1991 following their split with the record company. All four continued to have successful musical careers.
Mr. Mister may no longer be together as a band, but their music lives on. They have a loyal and enthusiastic fan following and their songs continue to be played on radio and TV stations worldwide.
