Episode 13 is a Melodical Black Metal band which was formed in June 2001 by (-the first original line up-) Ozan(vocals), Murat(guitars) and Can(drums). With incorporating of these Turkish paganic metalheads; a mixture of Extreme Metal, Melodical Black Metal and eastern tunes, screams&wraths of Anatolia were harmonically based on ground to attack. From the beginning to the current time the band has been aiming to focus on progressing in their own materials and trying to create an original sound.
The first demo cd; entitled “Expected Damnation” was released in June 2003 which includes an intro and a track titled “Tabula Rasa”. A limited number of copies was offered and were sold out in a close time after the release. It was a promising start to announce their names into the local scene (with taking parts in the radios, magazines, webzines and compilations) and shortly after that band took place in many festivals and gigs. Following that period -now currently bass player- Meric was joined the band and then it was time to raise the axes and incline for working on the debut album materials to assault. Due to being prepared for the mass destruction they started the recordings for the debut album; “Tabula Rasa”(Including 8 tracks) in the date of September 2003 and finished in November at “Studio Midasin Kulakligi”(Ankara) with recording ,mixing and mastering by Cuneyt Caglayan (Ominous Grief) and Erkan Tatoglu(Suicide).(Keyboards were performed by the ex-member “Artun” in the record).
After the recording period; the band spread a split cd with an other hellish Black Metal band Sadistic Spell; including the three tracks of each bands’. It was purposed to a promotional sale in for the gigs and live performances but sold out in a short time with gaining a huge amount of fan and proving that the Episode 13 would be a respected well-known band then. Especially relating the brilliant achievement of the single track “Forlorn…Till Dawn” on radio broadcasts (local/abroad), in compilation cds (local/abroad) ; band became more seriously interested and appreciated by magazines and webzines in the scene. With joining the current session keyboard player Aykut; band were set out to performing live across the lots of place in a short Turkey tour. The journey was started with supporting Lacrimas Profundere and Agathodaimon in Zoo Fest and then many other gigs followed that period.
In December of 2004 band signed a contract with their current label Dj Club Records and finally released their helly anticipated debut entitled “Tabula Rasa” in May 2005 with distribution of Atlantis Music.A theatrical, chaotic Anatolian history is collapsingly and agressively issued in the lyrical concept of the album. After the new release “Tabula Rasa”; the most bloody letters will be started to written from now on…
