Valkyria is a heathen non-political band that were spawned out in 1998 by J.O. Sandin from the inspiration of the proud northern history, and in order to hail and glorify our great north and our ancestors.
Valkyria consisted of J.O Sandin and Mist on the first album VÄSENS HYMNER, on the second album FÖRFÄDERS STÄMMOR, Valkyria is now a perfect orchestra, with five members.
With the female vocals Valkyria also represents all the “she-being-ghosts" which is carved in our ancestors' stones… And that strong mentality valkyrias had.

We dont turn to our “god” in order to pray,
we are heathens, our creator is too magnificent and we are too proud to pray. That would be an insult to our divinity we carry in our souls.

Imagine that you are located up on a snow covered mountain. Below spreads green long valleys and murmuring rivers out their powerful arms. The sunshine's life-giving beams diverts the last mist and the surrounding ponds breaths shows itself like hazy veils above placid water's mirror shining surfaces.
Between long valleys and the massive mountains gorges, the horns of battle echoes their sonorous messages; the battle of Midgård will stand today. From the nordic countryside, the fighters ride out in order to defend women and children from the forces of darkness and shadows... Above the spectacle's magnificent epos, the most fair valkyrias leave their dwelling place in order to ride down towards the battlefields from stormclouds in the remote horizon. The sound of passionate female singing, low hammering hoofs and the roaring alarms of battle melt together in a symphony of fate.
Valkyrias follow-up album Förfäders Stämmor seeks to catch the nordic ethnic soul through atmospheric music that reproduces the beauty from Carmina Burana and the force from Bathory in an splendid neo-classical ethnic metal.
